Donald Wayne "Don Don" Kirby Sr., 46 of 2914 S. Greenway Dr., died, Tuesday May 24, 2022, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Kirby was born on June 22, 1975, in Alleghany County a son of Peggy Smith "Penny" Wells. He was employed at the Excel Truck Group as a shop foreman and a member of Good News Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed being with family, cooking and was an avid Virginia Tech Fan. In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. Brandon Lee Thornton, 23, formerly of Eagle Rock, passed away on May 18, 2022, at the Reid Health Hospital in Connersville, IN. Mr. Thornton was born on October 6, 1998, in Roanoke a son of Charles Lee Hipes and Billie Jo Thornton. In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. Surviving are in addition to his parents his step mother Tiffanie Hipes; two brothers Lucas Hipes and Trey Baugess; a sister Gabrielle Vogt; a Maternal Grandmother Doris Thornton; his paternal grandparents Charlie Hipes and wife Kelly; an aunt Lori Thornton; and a number of cousins. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2022, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Good New Church with the Pastor Steve Noel officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home. Robert Roscoe Campbell Jr., 86 of 1304 Potts Creek Rd., died, Monday May 16, 2022, at the Brian Center Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Low Moor. Mr. Campbell was born on July 11, 1935, in Alleghany County the son of the late Robert R. Campbell Sr. and Beulah Atkins Campbell. He retired after 41 years from Westvaco in the Bleach Department. He was a member of the Parrish Court United Methodist Church where he was part of the Mens Fellowship and Choir. He was a charter member of the Boiling Spring Fire and Rescue, and with the Virginia National Guard. He enjoyed camping as well as listen to music. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Nellie Wright Campbell of Covington; two daughters and son in laws Cheryl Dressler and husband Richard and Kathy Black and husband David all of Covington; a son and daughter in law Randall Campbell and wife Sherri of Gap Mills, WV; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Ronald Gene Arritt passed away at his home on May 15, 2022 after a long and courageous health battle. He was born in 1932 to Roy and Reva Boone Arritt. He spent his entire life in Covington, Virginia. Ron had a passion for many things: his work, golf, and mostly his family. He was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher,deacon, treasurer, and an elder. In his later years he attended Highland Chapel Christain Church where his dear friend J.B Broughman served as pastor. Ron was married to Edith Arritt for 62 years. Ron served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the USS Midway as a medic. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He worked as an accountant at R.L. Persinger, after which he served as assistant administrator/finance at Bath County Hospital. William Samuel "Sammy" Miller, 68, of Hot Springs died, May 14, 2022, at his residence, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was the husband of Patricia R. Miller.Sammy was born on April 3, 1954, the son of the late George Lewis Miller and the late Nellie Burns Miller. He attended Covington High School and was an employee of Hercules before he went to work at The Homestead, where he retired after 38 years of service. Evelyn Lucile Landis Agnor, affectionately known all of her life as "Tillie", passed from this life on May 13, 2022, in Tampa, Florida with her family at her side. Born on April 11, 1929, in Covington, Virginia to Joseph Howard Landis and Minnie Stoup Dressler Landis, she was the youngest of a large family. Her eight siblings were Clyde Landis, Frances Sprouse, Carl Dressler, Sr., William (Bill) Dressler, Sr., Charlotte Keyser, Ida Harris, Blanche Burley and Nettie Campbell. The family shaped her life with a joy of living and an ever-present optimism. This loving family gave her many memories as well as many nieces and nephews. She continued the tradition of joy, vitality, and making a difference with her own family and was the loving mother of Robert Joseph "Bob" Agnor, Freda Agnor McClung, and Charlotte Agnor Baker. Ms. Sherry Antranette Allen was born April 2, 1970, a daughter of the late Ronald Allen and Geraldine Allen. She departed this earthly life Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Columbus, Georgia to rest in her eternal home with God. Sherry attended Covington High School and graduated in 1988. Upon graduation she went to National Business College in Roanoke, VA. She relocated to Phenix City, Alabama and while there she was a Pharmacy Tech at C.V.S. and until her death she worked as a Teachers Assistant at Meadowlane Elementary School. She was baptized at Pine Street Church at an early age and after moving to Phenix City she worshipped at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Ruby Johnson Stull, 95, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, May 1, 2022. She leaves behind her daughter, Paula Stull, her sister, Louise Humphries, a number of nieces and nephews and many extended family members, cherished friends, and her loving, caring, Brian Center family. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harvey Lee Stull, her first husband Harold Johnson and their son, Larry Wayne Johnson Stull. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Ralph Stull, sisters, Gladys Humphreys and Hallie Rose and brothers, Melvin Stull and Kenneth Stull. Ruby's love of life was caring for others and she lived the life she loved. She never missed a PTA meeting for her son or daughter. She was very active in their school and athletic activities. Mrs. Wright was born May 25, 1951, in Alleghany County a daughter of Phoebe Tucker Albright and the late Leonard Wright.
