Christopher Allen Hazen, 58, of 106 Minuet Drive died Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hazen was born January 12, 1963, in Roanoke a son of Joyce Kersey Hazen of Covington and the late William F. Hazen. He was employed as a sub-contractor for Southern Erectors. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Washington Football team and the Atlanta Braves baseball team. Surviving in addition to his mother are his Daughter and Son-in-law, Brandi and Trenton Cunningham, his granddaughter, Alleigh Kelly, two grandsons, Benjamin Cunningham and Bellamy Cunningham, all of Gordo, AL; his Sister, Lisa Bush and her husband, David, of Troutville; his Brother, Mike Hazen, of Covington and one nephew, Chad Bostic, of Roanoke. Christine Paxton Kimberlin, 99, formerly of Covington, died, Saturday July 31, 2021, in the Paramount Senior Living in Fredericksburg. Mrs. Kimberlin was born March 28, 1922, in Selma a daughter of the late Dewey Lee Paxton Sr. and Nina Devore Reed Paxton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Sullivan Kimberlin Sr., a daughter Barbara Ann Raphael and a son Arthur "Butch" Kimberlin Jr. She was a homemaker and loved to crochet, reunions, rides in the mountains, rock hunting, Antique stores, grandbabies, and cheap jewelry. She was also a member of the Goshen Baptist Church. Roderick Marcus Jeter Sr., 60, of 316 E. Chestnut St., died, Thursday July 30, 2021, at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. Jeter was born on November 20, 1960, in Covington a son of the late Armistead and Doris Chapman Jeter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son De'onte Jeter, two sisters Gloria Jeter and Brenda Brown, three brothers Curtis Jeter, Armistead Jeter Jr., and David Jeter. He served in the United States Army. He worked for over 32 years as an operator for the City of Covington at the Water Treatment Plant as well as for 34 years in maintenance for Emmanuel Episcopal Church. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church. Joyce Reynolds Armentrout, 83, of Covington died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at her daughter's residence in Buchanan. Mrs. Armentrout was born January 7, 1938, in Covington, the daughter of the late Walter G. Reynolds,Sr. and Emma Anne Looney Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Leon Wayne Armentrout, in 2004, a daughter, Shellie Armentrout and one sister and four brothers. Joyce had retired from Halmode Inc. Surviving are one Daughter, Terri West and her Husband, Lester, of Buchanan; three Sons, Butch Wood and his wife, Ellen, of Covington, Kevin Wood and his wife, Terry, of Az, and Troy Wood of NC. nine grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren nieces and nephews. Delberta Ruckman Foster, 84, of 120 Spring Mountain Rd., Hot Springs, died, Friday July 16, 2021, at the Brian Center Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Low Moor. Mrs. Foster was born August 15, 1936, in Covington, the daughter of the late William and Lillian Sharp Ruckman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William P. Foster in 2000. She was a retired Registered Nurse and a graduate of the C&O Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated. Surviving are her very dear and close friends, Joyce Davis and husband Larry, of Bacova and their children and grandchildren; Leta McLaughlin, Doris and Vernon McLaughlin and Carlene Gibson all of Covington; Bobby Hiner and Darrell Hiner of Minnehaha Springs, WV. Moselle Davis, of Scott Hill in Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021, in the Brian Center Nursing Home at Low Moor. She was born September 13, 1923, in Roanoke but grew up in Covington and graduated from Covington High School. She had worked at several places in Covington, the last being at the former K-Mart store. She was the daughter of the late Henry ad Ethel Davis. She was the only child. She is survived by several cousins in Roanoke and Franklin County. One cousin, Billy Altice, did most of the visiting and calling to check on her. She had two very, very special friends, Carol Conner, that she worked with and Nancy Salyers, a church member, both true and loyal friends for a very long time. The funeral service will be held at the graveside Friday, July 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM in Alleghany Memorial Park with Billy Altice officiating. Mrs. Deacon was born May 10, 1961, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Leslie Phillip and Helen Pullin Worley. She was a devoted Christian who found great strength through her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a customer service representative for nTelos and loved God. In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated. Michael Ray "Mike" Ferrell Sr, 67, of Covington passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the Springs Nursing Home in Hot Springs after a long illness. Mr. Ferrell was born December 30, 1953, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Henry and Anna Shirkey Ferrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Underwood) who raised him, his brother (John Ferrell survived by wife Susan), and sister Phyllis Greenfield. He retired in 2016 from the loading department at WestRock. He was a Washington Football Team fan, a muscle car fanatic, an avid outdoorsman, and loved his dogs (Domino, Copper, LD, and Daisy.)
