Gary Wayne Botkin 50, of Kissimmee Fl. formerly of Covington died Monday March 1, 2021 in Lewis- Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital Low Moor. Mr. Botkin was born April 13, 1970 in Lynchburg Va. he was the son of the late Charles M. Botkin and Linda Cooper Gray. Surviving is his brother Ricky Botkin and his wife Selena of Covington; two nieces, Jessica Graham of Covington and Dakota Botkin of Charlotte NC. Also surviving number friends. In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. A private service will be at later date. Arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home....

Travis Matthew Ashlock, of Covington, died Thursday, February 25, 2021.
Travis was born October 31, 2006 in Newport News, VA. He was a student at the Rivermont School in Covington.
Survivors include his mother, Wanda Ashlock (Deandria Brown); one sister, Lawanda Ashlock; two brothers, Tyshawn Ashlock and Oswald Ashlock; and grandmother, Sylvia Mansfield, all of Covington; an aunt, Patty Osborne (Larry Nemergut) of Gloucester, VA; and several cousins including Tina Osborne and Jayden Osborne, both of Covington.
In keeping with his families' wishes, his body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2020 at 1PM in the Arritt Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Donnie Bowker officiating. Friends attending the service are asked to wear red, white, and black as a tribute to Travis' favorite cartoon character, Mickey Mouse.

Donald Cardwell Sr. Donald Verlouis Cardwell Sr., 82, of 221 Pinehurst Heights Rd., Hot Springs, died, Friday February 19, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Cardwell was born August 11, 1938 in Bath County a son of the late Rucker Cardwell Sr. and Mayso Kent Cardwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Susan Merchant Cardwell in 2017, a sister Alberta Prescott and a brother Buddy Cardwell. He was a self-employed contractor and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to work and stay busy, very loving, and caring individual for nature and life and was always lending a helping hand. Mr. Flint was born September 20, 1936, in Covington a son of the late Randolph Andy Flint and Aurelia Viola Hinton Flint. James served his country in the United States Navy. He was the owner of The Squire Shop men's clothing store in Covington for a number of years. He was a lifelong member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Barbara Clarke Flint, of Covington; two Brothers, Edward Lee Flint of Buchanan and Gary Allen Flint and his Wife, Katie, of Ashland; his Sister-in-law, Betty Stull, of Covington and his Brother-in-law, Tom Clarke, of Richmond. George served in the United States Marine Corps during Korea, he retired from Dewitt Trucking Co. in Rockingham NC., as a truck driver for number of years. Jackson St., died, Monday, February 15, 2021, at 300 East Gray St. Mr. Carter was born December 28, 1959, in Covington, a son of Helen Vass Carter of Covington and the late Bill Mack Carter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Steve Smith and two nephews, Brian Smith and Michael Smith. He was the manager of the meat department at the Kroger in Daleville. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church. Delores Hinton McAllister, 79, of 7306 Dunlap Creek Road died Friday, February 12, 2021, at Carrington Place in Daleville. Mrs. McAllister was born December 15, 1941, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late William Lawrence Hinton and Dorothy Turner Hinton Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Lewis R.
