Anna Marie Hart Pifer, 61, of 1417 Russell Dr., died, Thursday September 10, 2020 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. Mrs. Pifer was born May 22, 1959 in Bluefield, WV a daughter of the late James and Mary Franklin Hart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Tammy Casey and a brother Danny Hart. She was a banking financing manager for a number of years at HSBC. She loved to sing and write poetry. Surviving are her husband of 34 years Thomas Pifer of Covington, two daughters and son in laws Tonesia Croft and husband Rich of Chesapeake, and Kimberly Smith and husband Ed of Salem, a son and daughter in law Tommy Pifer Jr. and wife Kelly, seven grandchildren 1 great grandchild, a sister Charlena Elliott of Charleston WV, two brothers Jimmie Hart of Mocksville, NC, Mark Dillon of South Point, OH, a step mother Patricia Hart Price of St Albans, WV, her best friend of fifty years Tammy Brooks, and a number special of nieces and nephews. Mary Marie Wright Gaines, 92, died Monday, September 8, 2020, in the Brian Center Nursing Home at LowMoor. Mrs. Gaines was born September 12, 1927, in Alleghany County a Daughter of the late Samuel Wright and Zetta Wright Hubbard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first Husband, Joseph Persinger, her second Husband, William "Doc" Gaines,a infant child, a son Larry Persinger a step-son, Larry Gaines, a grandson, DeWayne Myers, a step-granddaughter, Angie Gaines, four brothers, Leonard "Fox" Wright, Lewis Wright,Marvin Wright and Davis Wright, and two sisters, Virginia Bowen and Evelyn Meadows. Darlie Sue Dye McKinney, 79, of 4812 Johnson Creek Road, died, Sunday, September 6, 2020, at her home. Mrs. McKinney was born June 28, 1941, in Richlands the daughter of the late Summers Dye and Madge Shell Dye. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Johnson Creek ARP Church and was a Past Matron of the Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as a member of the Salem Order of the Eastern Star. She loved her home family and her church family; enjoyed playing the piano and listening to southern gospel music. Carl Abijha Mann, 81, of 9300 Potts Creek Rd., died, Friday September 4, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Mann was born on August 16, 1939 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Leroy S. Mann and Clara Mann. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother John Mann. Carl retired as a Lt. Colonel with the United States Army after 28 years and he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a real estate agent and instructor with Long & Foster Real Estate Co. in Roanoke for a number of years. Mr. Mann was a member of Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as Lay Leader, and he was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Surviving is his wife of 51 years Celinda Dodson Mann of Covington, one daughter Tamy Mann of Covington, one son Michael Blackwell of Pearisburg, two granddaughters Reilly and Abriel Blackwell both of Pearisburg, Sharon Stacy of Blacksburg, and a number of nieces and nephews. James Michael Beaudette, 64, of 5002 Jackson River Road, died, Thursday September 3, 2020, at his residence. Mr. Beaudette was born February 9, 1956, in Fairbanks, AK, a son of Luella Buckman Beaudette of Hot Springs and the late John R. Beaudette who preceded him in death in 2020. James was a retired Deputy Director with the Office of General Counsel-HUD in Washington, DC. He had served with the United States Air Force and the U.S Army during the Vietnam era. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Alleghany Gun Club, and was chief of the Polling Precinct in King George, VA. He served on the Selective Service Committee Draft Board and was a member of NIMBS otherwise known as Operation Alliance and was issued a letter at the time from former Vice President George H. W. Bush. He loved shooting sports and woodworking in his home and riding his bike every morning. "May the work I've Done Speak for Me" Sadie Drew Stiney, daughter of the late Mr. Ollie and Mrs. Pearl Drew was born March 12, 1923 in Covington, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters. At an early age she joined Pine Street Baptist Church in Covington, Virginia. Upon relocating to Hardeeville, SC, she joined St. Phillip Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 70 years. She attended Allegheny County school system where she graduated. As a teenager she worked various jobs around Covington, VA. Upon graduation from high school, decided to seek a career in the health field. She attended Burkeville School of Nursing were she obtain her Registered Nursing Degree and North Carolina Central University, in Durham, NC. She also obtained her South Carolina Funeral Director License. Gloria Mae Dressler, of Covington, passed away on Wednesday August 26, 2020 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Gloria was born November 18, 1945 in Covington the daughter of the late Arnold and Goldie Sponaugle Dressler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by special aunts and uncle Hazel and Lloyd Armstrong, five uncles, three aunts, and several cousins and her beloved little dog Gidget. Gloria was a life-long resident of Covington. She was a graduate of Covington High School and a graduate of Clifton Forge Covington Alleghany Division of VPI. Gloria Retired from MeadWestvaco in April 2009 as an administrative assistant for Product Development and Quality Assurance. After retirement Gloria worked at MeadWestvaco helping her previous job through the consulting firm CLEAR LLC. Gloria was a life-long member of Mt.
