Dorothy Kitt Dawson, 75, of Covington, died Sunday, December 31, 2023 at her residence.

Dorothy was born April 1, 1948, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Arnold R. and Hettie Oyler Kitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil C. Dawson; and one sister, Sally Dawson.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa Jeffries and Toni Jeffries, both of Covington; four grandchildren, Bandon Lipes and his wife, Miranda, Kameron Jeffries and his girlfriend, Stormy Walker, Jody Jeffries, Jr., and Ethan Jeffries, all of Covington; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Lipes and Gracelynn Jeffries, both of Covington; and one brother, Richard Kitt of Low Moor.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

The family will receive their friends from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
