Edgar McDonald Liptrap, 85, of 805 N. Beverly Ave., died, Wednesday November 24, 2021, at his home. Mr. Liptrap was born July 27, 1936, in Waynesboro, a son of the late Charles Clifton and Carrie Virginia Jack Liptrap. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law Gladys Ryder and Willie, two brothers George (Cliff) Liptrap and wife Bobbie, and Charles (Big Charlie) Liptrap. He was an iron worker and was big in the union a tree surgeon as well and attended Lone Star Advent in Nicelytown. He helped replot the cemetery at Green Valley Church, an avid outdoorsman master angler and musician who loved county and bluegrass. He was a people person all we welcome, had show dogs, and loved his family. In accordance with his wishes his body has been cremated. Surviving are his son Kenneth Liptrap and wife Julie of Hot Spring; a daughter Donna Lesher and husband Big Ed of Covington; four grandchildren: John Liptrap of Stokesdale, NC, Luke Liptrap of Hot Springs, Edward F. Lesher III of Covington, and Jessica Jean Lesher of Roanoke; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and lots of friends. The funeral service will be held on Monday November 29, 2021, at 6:30 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Anthony Lowry officiating. The family will receive their friends following the service on Monday at Arritt Funeral Home. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
