Geraldine Rebecca Jones, age 87, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023, at her home in Covington, VA.

She was born on January 26, 1936, in Hot Springs VA, to the late Lucille and Sylvester Brown. She was raised on her family farm in Hot Springs called the Umbles Farm. She married the love of her life, the late Richard C. Jones Sr. in 1949. and together they raised nine children.  Geraldine was also preceded in death by two sons, Marvin "Boo Boo" Jones and Richard Jones, Jr., three brothers, Sylvester, James, and Leroy Brown; a son-in-law, Curtis Jeter; and a grandson, Shane Jones.

Surviving are three sons, Michael, James, and Ronnie Jones of Covington;  four daughters Linda Jeter, Teresa (James) Smith, Debra (Gregory) Rice and Daphne “Stephanie” (James) Wallace all of Covington; daughter-in-law Kim Jones of Roanoke and a grandson Chris Jones of Covington; sixteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. 

Geraldine was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her family and volunteering in the church.  She loved shopping for new dresses and matching jewelry. Geraldine was skilled in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking her famous fried apples. She was a faithful member of Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she served on the Mothers Board and Hospitality committee.

A homegoing service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Elder Gregory "Pete" Moore officiating.  The family will receive receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
