Parker Lee Tingler, Jr., 69, of 1010 Apache Court died Sunday morning, April 8, 2018, at his home. Mr. Tingler was born September 23, 1948, in Alleghany County a son of the late Parker L. Tingler, Sr. and Ada Martin Tingler. He had retired from Mead Westvaco as a pipefitter in 2005 after 37 years with the company. In 1987 he started Classic Auto Center used car sales on Craig Avenue in Covington and left that business in 1994 to open the Car Shop, Inc. on Highland Avenue. Parker, known affectionately as "Boo", was a good , loving, godly man devoted to his family but eager to reach out to help others. There are no words to express our love for him. He so enjoyed his car business, his church family at Faith Baptist Church and going with Joy to antique malls on Sunday afternoons. Surviving are the love of his life, his Wife, Joy Vass Tingler, of Covington to whom he was married for fifty-one and a half years; his Son, Chris Tingler of whom he was so proud and his Fiance', Ashlei Balser, of Covington; his Sister, Dreama Wade, and her Husband, Mike, of Covington; five grandchildren, Ashli Tingler Fridley and her Husband, James, Breanna Tingler and Chris Tingler, Jr. who were raised in his home, and Dalton Pennington and Parker's "Doll Baby" Huston Tingler all of Covington and Brenton Parker Tingler, Parker's soon to be born grandson and his family dogs, Prikncess and his "therapy dog" Dukie. We are so sad, but we are so happy for Parker. After a 30 year battle with cancer, he is now with Jesus and is no longer hurting. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 2:00 PM in Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Price officiating. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park Active pallbearers will be Robbie Rogers, John Owens, Eddie Clemons, Glenn White, Ron Leichter, Gary Bell, Gary Loan and Kevin Wright. Alternates will be Car Shop Inc. employees , Broughman & Sons Excavation, the Church family from Faith Baptist Church and Parker's other friends in the community. The family will receive their friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
