Rowan Anthony Samuels, Sr., of Covington, died Thursday, October 24, 2024.
He was met at heaven’s door by his mother and father, the late Ms. Christine Emily Samuels and Mr. Henry Wesley Samuels; a brother, Mr. Denton “Mewood” Samuels; a sister, Ms. Marcia Samuels.
Rowan leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Lisa Samuels; five children, Tamara Samuels, Rowan Samuels, Jr., Venice Gayle, Aubrey Samuels, Dontae Samuels; seven sisters and brothers, Howard Samuels, Linford Samuels, Yvonne Samuels (Patrick Martin), Horace “Dannyboy” Samuels, (Tanisha), Sheridan Samuels, Marva Samuel Adams (Rupert Adams) and Evan Samuels; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rowan Anthony Samuels, Sr. was born in Lucea, Hanover, Jamaica on January 15, 1966 to the late Henry Wesley Samuels and Christine Emily Samuels. He went to Ruseas High School in the parish and graduated in 1984. He was known all over in Jamaica for his talent in football. He started traveling to the United States in 1997 and moved to Covington, Virginia around the early 2000, where he joined the Omni Homestead Resort team for many years as a bartender. He was also employed at the Greenbrier Resort. He returned back to the Omni Homestead Resort a year ago and he worked there until his death.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12PM in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor, Stephanie R. Clark officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held in Lucea, Hanover, Jamaica at the Lucea Cemetery.
Arritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements for Mr. Samuels.
