Richard Columbus Jones, Jr., 73, of 408 S. Marion Ave., passed away, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Jones was born February 13, 1950, in Clifton Forge; he was the son of Geraldine Brown Jones of Covington and the late Richard C. Jones, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Jones in 2023 and a stepdaughter Dionne Moore in 2014.

Richard retired from Alleghany Regional Hospital after 35 years of service.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Christine Hatcher Jefferson Jones of Covington; a son, Keeno Jones of Covington; four step daughters, Patrice Jefferson, Sonya Billup, Stephania Hunter and husband Roger all of Clifton Forge, and Gena Jefferson of Roanoke; three step sons, Curtis Jefferson and wife Kim, Brian Jefferson and wife Barbara all of Covington, and Mark Jefferson of Clifton Forge; a host of Grandchildren and Great Grand Children; four sisters, Linda Jeter, Theresa Smith and husband James, Debbie Rice and husband Greg, and Dapheny Wallace and husband James all of Covington; three brothers, James Jones, Michael Jones, and Ronnie Jones all of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.

A homegoing service will be held on Friday May 26, 2023, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home.
