Lewis Rufus McAllister, 79, of 7306 Dunlap Creek Road died Sunday, January 24, 2021, at his home. Mr. McAllister was born February 8, 1941, in Alleghany County a son of the late Cecil Rufus McAllister and Marie Brackman McAllister. He had retired as an operator after 41 years with the former Hercules, Inc. He was a longtime member of the Moss Run Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Usher and Trustee. He was proud to be a farmer and enjoyed his grandchildren and their sports and scouting activities and hunting. Surviving are his Wife of 61 years, Delores Hinton McAllister, of Covington; two Sons and Daughters-in-law, Randy and Gwen McAllister and Michael and Amy McAllister, all of Covington; three grandchildren, Cecil and Nicki McAllister of Denver, CO., Kasey and Brandon Harrison and Austin McAllister, all of Covington; one great granddaughter, Olivia Harrison, of Covington; one aunt,, Mazie McAllister, of Covington and several cousins. In keeping with the current Covid-19 pandemic guidelines; you are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times while attending the service. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the funeral home prior to the service to view/sign the book. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Sizemore officiating.
