Edith Toombs Pettitt, 94, of Covington died Monday, March 29, 2021,at the Brain Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor. She was born January 2, 1927, in Covington a daughter of the late Charles K. Toombs and Edith Beatrice Fridley Toombs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Calvin Jerman, and her husband, Leonard Pettitt, one son, Paul Jerman and one daughter, Kathleen Walker. Mrs. Pettitt had retired from the H.O. Canfield Co. as an inspector. She was also member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Clara Copland Hanna and her husband, Joe, Karen Williams, Beverly Baker and her husband, Richard, all of Covington and Sharon Broughman and her husband, Carrol, of Clifton Forge; three sons, J.C. Jerman and his wife, Jeanie, of Covington, Bobby Jerman and his wife, Norma, and Billy Jerman and his wife, Aiza, all of Clifton Forge; 15 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 1:00 PM in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. The family will receive their friends from 11:30 to 12:30 PM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Pettitt's name be made to Mt Carmel United Methodist Church; 1200 N.
