Bertie Givens Persinger, 76, of 6800 Bens Run Rd, died, Tuesday January 26, 2021 in the Brian Center Rehabilitation & Nursing Care in Low Moor. She was born September 21, 1944 in West Virginia a daughter of the late Lonnie and Maybelle Wright Givens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard H. Persinger, two sisters and one brother. She worked as a former clerk at the Whitey's Convenience Store and was a member of Highland Chapel Christian Church. Surviving are a son Doug Persinger and Lesley Nickell of Covington, a daughter Winnie West of Roanoke, six grandchildren: Ricky Chittum, Trina Wolfe, Stephanie Brookman, Olivia Ginger, Brandon Nickell all of Covington and Bryan Persinger of Mulberry, FL, eight great grandchildren, a sister Laura Booze and husband Johnny of Clifton Forge, two brothers Lloyd Givens and wife Phyllis of Covington and Bob Givens of FL, and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with the current Covid-19 pandemic guidelines; you are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times while attending the service. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the funeral home prior to the service to view/sign the book. A graveside service will be held Saturday January 30 at 2:00 PM in the Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. David Brown officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations in Mrs. Persinger's name may be made the Boiling Spring Fire and Rescue Department at 5407 Potts Creek Rd. Covington, VA 24426. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
