Richard Eugene Bradshaw known by many as Eugene, 86, of Covington, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2023. Eugene was born on April 25, 1936 in Monroe County, a son of the late Richard Roscoe and Rebecca Craft Bradshaw. He rejoins in heaven his beloved wife of 58 years, Carol Ann, who passed away in 2018.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters Linda Scott and Phyllis Bradshaw; and a brother Leo Bradshaw. He served in the United States Army. Eugene was a hard working life-long farmer. He and his father, and later his son Michael, operated two farms for many years in Alleghany County and Monroe County, WV. he was a lover of the outdoors, classic country music and cars in his younger years.
Surviving are his son Michael Bradshaw of Covington; a daughter Teresa Stevens and husband Nate of Daleville; two grandchildren Joshua Humphries and wife Ashley Lockhart of Richmond and Brooke Humphries of Honolulu, HI; a sister in law Ada Bradshaw; several nieces and nephews; and a loyal companion and “fur ball” friend, Frisky. Eugene found great joy in his grandchildren and enjoyed all the time he had with them.
The funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday January 21, 2023 at Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service at Lone Star Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at Pinnell Chapel UMC.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made in Eugene and Carol’s name to Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church at 205 Summit Drive, Covington, VA 24426. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
