LUCILLE MARKHAM Katherine Lucille Brooks Markham, 73, of 2024 South York Avenue died Thursday evening, April 8, 2010, in Alleghany Regional Hospital. Mrs. Markham was born June 24, 1936, in Union , West Virginia a daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Honaker Brooks. She had retired as a clerk and was known as the "Critter Lady" at the former Barr's Critters and Crafts Store in Covington. Lucille was a member of the Grace Brethren Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class and with the Women of the Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Allen Lee "Popeye" Markham in 2000. Surviving are her two sons, Joe Markham and his wife, Terry and Richard O. Markham, all of Covington; two grandchildren, Burton Allen Markham and Abigail Lynn Markham, both of Covington; five sisters, Fran Burhenn and her husband, Bill of Mt Airy, NC; Mary Barber and her husband, Bill of Covington; Shirley Keith and her husband, J.E. of Hampton; Velma Craft and her husband, James of Covington and Vivian Pendleton of Clifton Forge ; special friends, Jay and Donna Hale and a number of nieces and nephews. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. The online guest book is available at arrittfuneralhome.
