Shirley Powell Wright, 78, of 448 Winding Way died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Mrs. Wright was born May 24, 1942, in Alleghany a daughter of the late Robert and Annie Hipes Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Leonard M. "Fox" Wright, in 2019. Shirley was a longtime member of Mallow Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Covington High School in 1959 and had worked on every 1959 CHS class reunion. She had worked at the former Leggett Department Store for 16 years. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed arts and crafts, traveling and listening to music. Surviving are her Daughter, Kathy Murray and her Husband, Johnny, of Covington; her Granddaughter, Sarah Quinlin, and her Husband, Johnny, of Roanoke; her Great granddaughter, Bailey Quinlin,of Roanoke; her Sister and Brother-in-law, Peggy and Thornton Shinault, of Covington; her Brother and Sister-in-law, Billy and Rebecca Powell, of Covington; special nieces and nephews, Ricky and Angie Shinault, Jennifer and Paul Lee, Travis Powell, Corey Shinault and Stacey Schuder and a special friend, Gracie Adams, of Gretna. A private funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2020, in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park. The family requests that memorial donations in Shirley's name be made to Mountain Regional Hospice; P.O.
