Mildred Biggs Caldwell of Covington, age 99, of Covington died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge.
Mildred was born May 16, 1924, in Surber, Virginia, and was preceded in death by her husband, Doran Caldwell; her parents, Roy C. Biggs, Hattie Via Biggs, two grandchildren, Scott Schell and Jessie Caldwell, a great grandson, Jonathan Schell; three sisters, Carrine Taylor, Elsie Smith, Ruby Paitsel; two brothers, Rex Biggs and Lacy Biggs.
She loved being a homemaker and was a Bookkeeper at Woody’s Auto Parts. Mildred attended Persinger Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Boiling Springs Ladies Auxiliary, an avid Sudoku game player and enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving are her daughter Angela (Roger) Stover of Covington; one son, Dennis (Karie) Caldwell of Roanoke; grandchildren, Barry (Melanie) Schell and Amanda (Kevin) Griffith of Covington, Lindsey Caldwell of Goodview, and Brittany Phipps; great- grandchildren, Mikey, Brandon, Josh, Carter, Brycen, Riley, Natalie, Wyatt, Ryan; great-great grandchildren, Payton, Jase; one sister, Libby Shelton of Staunton, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. David Brown, assisted by Rev. Bill Gilliand. The family will receive friends at Arritt Funeral Home from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Boiling Springs Fire and Rescue, 5407 Potts Creek Road, Covington, VA 24426.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Arritt Funeral Home.
