Nellie Burns Miller, 92, formerly of 1116 Rockbridge Ave., Covington died, Tuesday November 16, 2021, in Virginia Beach. Mrs. Miller was born December 22, 1928, in Bolar a daughter of the late William Arnold and Rue Ava Jackson Burns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Lewis Miller in 2005; two sisters Mona McElwee and Wilma Lipscomb; one brother Billy Burns; and a son in law Larry Magaddino. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters Nancy Magaddino and Ava "Liz" (Larry) Lawhorn all of Virginia Beach; two sons Sammy (Patricia) Miller of Hot Springs and Tim (Debbie) Miller of Covington; four grandchildren: Lamonica (Billy) White, Heather (James) Pelletier, Beth (Jay) Woodson, and Raymond Miller; six great grandchildren: Mailee (Jesse) Richardson, Samantha White, Gabe Miller, Gabi Woodson, Melada Pelletier, and Christopher Sapp; one great great grandchild Kyra Richardson; a sister Linda Hambrick; a special dog Luke; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Miller, Tim Miller, Larry Lawhorn, Jay Woodson, Ray Miller, Gabe Miller, Roscoe Pierce, Gene McElwee The family will receive their friends on Thursday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
