Eloise McConnell Crowder Hodges, age 87, of Covington, died Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany in Low Moor.

She was born on January 23, 1937, in Botetourt County, a daughter of the late Ryland and Mary Broughman McConnell.

She was employed at Holiday Inn and the Covington Moose Lodge #610 for many years before her retirement. She attended Grace Brethren Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; three brothers, Everette McConnell, Kenneth McConnell, and Wayne McConnell; one sister, Norma Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Edna McConnell.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph “Joey” Crowder and his wife, Kelly, of Clifton Forge and Norman “Binky” Crowder of Yorktown; Patty Bryan, whom she thought of as a daughter; one brother, Herman McConnell and Betty Mountcastle of Floyd County; one sister-in-law, Bernice McConnell of Fincastle; six grandchildren, Bobby Hyler, Kayla Crowder, Brittney Belcher, Alexis Crowder, Brooke Crowder, and Erin Crowder; three great-grandchildren, Kynleigh Crowder, Claire Belcher, and Cooper Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, to include Charles Anderson of Covington; and a close family friend, Steve Smith.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. There will be no formal service at this time.
